Bank of America continues to close several branches across the country. In the last few weeks of last year and so far in 2025, this financial institution has closed and will close locations in more than 15 entities in the United States , including California, Florida, Illinois and more.
Each week, the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) shares a list of bank branches that will close in the coming months and those that have already closed. Some of these bulletins include the closures of several Bank of America locations.
Among other reasons, banking institutions decide to close or relocate certain branches because they are not profitable in the city in which they are located. In addition, in recent years, closures have increased due to the rise of online banking.
As technology advances, customers' banking needs have changed , as the number of transactions that can be made outside the bank, whether at ATMs, on a mobile app or online banking, is increasing.

Banks cannot close a branch overnight, as they must notify the OCC at least 90 days before the potential closing date. Such notification is made through an Advance Notice of Branch Closing, which is shared by the Office of the Comptroller of the Currency in weekly bulletins, which are published on its official website .
